There is nothing like the gift of life. I remember when my son was born, what a painful, but yet, joyful event. He was born prematurely and was a seventh month baby. Of course the labor was unexpected. I was concerned about the health of my baby. I didn't know the gender, until he was delivered. Everything was very different in the early eighties. In those days, if you wish to know the child's identity, there was an additional cost associated with that and is was an "out-of-pocket" expense. Being a young married couple, money was very tight. In other words, we couldn't afford to know.
I was in labor was sixteen hours. When the nurse placed my precious bundle in my arms, I was ecstatic with delight. I brushed my lips against his tiny little face and gazed at him. Then proceeded to count all his fingers and toes. It was an absolutely pure delight holding him. watching him, and just loving on him.
This kind of love makes your heart ache, because it's a cherishing kind of love. You are filled with such wonder and pure bliss, that you think that you could die on an overdose of pure joy.
Can you imagine how much Jesus loves us? Can you really imagine? God's love is far more superior than man's love. Human love is based on relationships and conditions. God placed in the human heart the desire to love. God loves us not because of who we are, but because who He is. God loves us simply because He loves us. He longs to fill us with His overflowing love. He wants us to experience His love and a oneness with Him. This love from our heavenly Father is a very powerful.
The Bible tells us that "God is love." It doesn't just say that God loves or God is loving. Scriptures clearly say, God is love. God is the picture of love. God's love for us is so amazing that the Bible has described an unique word for it. It is God's agape love. Agape love in the Bible, defines God's love as selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love. It is the highest type of love. "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." (1 John 4:16)
When we were in the world, before we gave our life to Christ, God's heart ached. Longing for us to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. So, when we finally gave our lives to Him, that profound love that we have for our children, can't compare to the love He has for us. We could never understand the intensity, affectionate care, and devotion our heavenly Father has for us. "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13)
He delights in us, even when we are crying our eyes out, for whatever reason. Even when we are stomping our feet and having a temper tantrum, because we didn't get our way. He just watch us going through the motions, because He already know that we will be okay. Even when we stumble and fall into sin, He knows that His blood has covered it all.
God love for us is beyond any human understanding. God loves us sooooo much, that He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for us, so that we could have freedom from sin and death. Imagine that!
Now that's love! What an amazing love!
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, not any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Romans 8:38-39)
