Awesome is defined as extremely impressive or daunting, inspiring great admiration, apprehension or fear.
In the NKJV, the word “awesome” is used 38 times. When you hear the word “awesome”, what images come to mind? Maybe a number of images. Sometimes we may describe how we feel about a movie. We may us the word to reflect on a good book or admiring the latest fashion. We may use the word to express our feelings about a dream car or relishing over a great meal. No one has probably misused this word, more than me. I am truly guilty of misusing it, but once you know better, than you can do better. Now, I know better. There are many people in this world that I can say are amazing, wonder, super, and impressive. Anyone can be wonderful, but only God is “AWESOME”.
Awesome, in the Bible can also mean “the fear of God”. Dueteronomy 10:17 says, “For the Lord your God, God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh rewarded.
When I think about the goodness of Jesus and His awesomeness, my soul shouts, HALLELUJAH!
Jesus has many attributes. I don’t think that it is humanly possible to list them all, because they are endless. He is AWESOME to me. This one word for me, sums up everything about Him. He inspires “AWESOMENESS”. Everything about Him, is “AWESOME”. His holy word, the Bible is “AWESOME. The Bible uses the Word “awesome” in Psalm 68:35, Genesis 28:7, Exodus 15:11, (just to name a few scriptures). Scripture conveys the meaning of the word “awesome," to fill with an overwhelming sense of reverence, admiration, and fear.
Our God is AWESOME!
Dominion and awe belongs to God.
He has ALL power in His hands.
He is so glorious, that no man can see him and live.
He made Heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all its hosts, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them.
He is “LOVE”. He rejoices over us and He quiets us with His love.
He is “The Rock”, and his work is perfect.
He is faithful and just.
He is merciful and our sanctuary.
He gives power and strength to us.
His splendor is golden and He is clothed with Awesome majesty.
He is awesome above all who is around him, in the Council of the Holy Ones.
He is Righteous and always will be.
God is truly awesome. He is just and right in every decision He makes and in every action that He takes. He makes no mistakes and He doesn’t show favoritism.
Nehemiah 1:5 says, “And I said, 'oh Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments.”
He is Awesome! He placed the sun, the moon, and the stars in it's heavenly orbit.
So, I don’t care what someone may have told you, the sun and the moon doesn’t rise and set, just for you.
The sun doesn’t shine just for you.
The moon doesn’t ever think about you.
The stars don’t twinkle because of you.
The earth doesn’t shake, rattle, and roll, because it loves you.
Your favorite actor or artist will never lay down their life for you.
Your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend, may leave you, but God will never leave you nor forsake you. He cannot and will not!
OUR GOD IS AWESOME! He is irreplaceable, indescribable, and absolutely remarkable.
He is AWESOME!
