CRUEL INTENTIONS

We as humans, we love and we hate. We help and we hurt. We lend a hand and we turn around and we stab you in the back with the other hand.

Why are people cruel? Some people are cruel because of a childhood trauma as a result of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse or a combination.

Some people strive on being cruel to people. Maybe because of jealousy, envy, hatred, or for whatever reason. Some people don't have to have a reason to inflict pain on someone else.

I can understand if you hurt someone because you are defending yourself, but to hurt someone who is harmless, is unbelievable.

Some people are sadists and some are psychopaths. Someone who gets pleasure from hurting or humiliating others is a sadist. Sadists feel other people's pain more than normal. Some sadists get pleasure from hurting others or watching them suffer. They act this way because they are less likely to feel pity or remorse, or fear. They can also work out what others are feeling, but not get infected by such feelings themselves.

Psychopaths don't harm the harmless simply because they get pleasure from it. They manifests amoral and antisocial behavior, show a lack of ability to love or establish meaningful relationships, and demonstrates a failure to learn from experience and other behaviors. They want things, so if harming others help them to get what they want, then so be it. Psychopaths are master manipulators.

Some people are cruel and it us used as a coping mechanism to handle fear or rejection. They feel that by being cruel, they can in some way, control their own fear or push people away to avoid being hurt. It's an illusion of being self-sufficient and not needing anyone physically or emotionally, or maybe both.

But what is the root of cruelty? Satan, himself! Before the beginning of mankind, there was a war in heaven. Satan rebelled against God and was thrown out of heaven. Everybody is trying to get into heaven and he gets kicked out. Ain't that something!

Ezekiel 28:15-18 says, "You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings...."

The devil, is the personification of evil and goes by many names: Satan, Lucifer, the Prince of Demons, and the Father of Lies. In reality, he predates humanity's creation, and before his banishment from heaven, his story had angelic beginnings.

The Bible doesn't give us a timeline of Satan's origin. We know from Ezekiel and Isaiah of his beginnings. The prophets tell us that Satan was an angel known as the "morning star." As an angel, Lucifer walked on God's holy mountain and was anointed to serve God as a member of the guardian cherubim, among the highest rank of angels in God's holy host, second only to the seraphim (Ezekiel 28:14).

Lucifer became so consumed with pride over his God given splendor, that he became corrupt and violent, no longer willing to serve under God (Isaiah 14:13-14). This sense of superiority led him to use his FREE WILL to scheme to be greater than God, and to assemble an army of angels to help him carry out his plot (Ezekiel 28:17 and Revelations 12:3-4).

As punishment, God cast him out of heaven and his army of fallen angels, to Earth, condemning them to hell. Once he was thrown out of heaven, he realized that he didn't have the power to take God's throne from Him. Instead, he set his sights on overpowering God in another way. How? By tempting God's children, us.

Now, the one who was known as the "morning star" also known as Lucifer, became mankind's adversary and accuser, and is now known as Satan. He has been using his wiles to rob mankind of their eternal salvation.

When God created mankind, Satan got busy. Satan is not alone and he doesn't work alone. The army of angels that Satan assembled in heaven, in their unsuccessful overthrow against God, those one-third of the angels, they now serve as demons, doing Satan's business. The business of sewing destruction against us.

Demons are as dangerous as Satan. The Bible describes them as evil spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). Who can deceive, torment, and cause Christian believers to do evil.

The Bible tells us that Satan and his demons will ultimately be defeated and cast into the lake of fire for all eternity.

But until then, he stills remains our Arch Enemy #1. He is an evil powerful spiritual being, whose sole purpose is to deceive us, God's elect. He seeks to steal our peace and destroy our lives. He is like a "roaring lion" that prowls around, looking for someone to devour.

God has a glorious way to redeem His people for Himself, through the promise of a Savior, who will conquer both sin and death.

Jesus was glorified when He conquered Satan, sin and death. How? Through His death and His resurrection.

Those who have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior, will received the gift of eternal life. We will join God in heaven, a place where there is no cruelty, no sin, and no evil.
