Destiny is sometimes referred to as fate. It means, "a predetermined course of events that is beyond your power or control." A "destiny's child" is one who is born to do greatness. This person that God calls, will do exceptional and extraordinary things. A "destiny's child" is predestined by God.
If you survey the history of mankind, you will plainly see those whom God called and used in a mighty big way, were ordinary people that yielded to God, to do His will. "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..." (Jeremiah 1:5). Our destiny is our designated place in God's purpose.
Abraham was a "destiny's child." Abraham, a gentile born in a pagan and hedonistic society, did not know God, but was called by God to be a father of many nations. God commanded Abram to leave his country, his family, and his father's house to a land that He would show him. When the Lord called Abraham, he answered, though he did not know God. God promised Abraham that he would make him a great nation. Abraham believed the promises of God.
Joseph was a "destiny's child." He was destined for greatness. As a youngster, he was naturally self-assured. His self-assurance, molded by pain and combined with a personal knowledge of God, allowed him to survive and prosper where anyone else would have failed. Joseph's circumstances and his faith prepared him to fulfill his destiny of becoming a ruler who saves his family and preserving the bloodline of the Messiah.
Moses was a "destiny's child." He was born in Egypt during the time Pharaoh ordered all the newborn male Hebrew children to be casted into the Nile. Moses was rescued by the daughter of the Pharaoh and became her son and was raised with all the splendor of the Egyptian royalty. From the burning bush, Moses received his calling from God. He was God's agent in the deliverance of the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt. He was their prophet and leader. As an intercessor for Israelites, he was their priest.
David, Israel's greatest king was a "destiny's child." David, was a shepherd, giant killer, poet, king, and the ancestor of Jesus. David, was one of the greatest men in the Old Testament. The Bible mentions his failures, struggles, and successes, and yet he is known as "a man afters God's own heart." David had an unchangeable belief in the faithfulness and forgiveness, of God's nature. He never took God's forgiveness lightly nor His blessings for granted.
Paul was a "destiny child." Paul, a man who terrorized his Jewish kindred until one day he met Jesus on Damascus Road, and he was converted to do the will of the Lord. He became the Apostle of the Gentiles. Paul was set apart from his mother's womb to be an apostle to the Gentiles for a divine purpose, "But He who had set me apart, even from my mother's womb, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles..." (Galatians 1:15-16a). Paul, a destiny's child, was destined to bear the name of Jesus before the Gentiles, to kings, and the Jews.
A "destiny's child" comes along every so often. A "destiny's child" is a person called by God, but have no control over his or her destiny. Every generation doesn't produce this type of individual. We are all called to a destiny; therefore, we are children with a destiny, but a "destiny's child" will achieve more and do more, because their destiny is control by God, with a higher purpose. Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., President Barrack Obama are a "destiny's child," just to name a very few.
The most important of all, "destiny's child," is Jesus Christ." Jesus left His regal room in heaven to saved us. He was born of a woman, but before He was born, He was destined to deliver the final death blow to Satan, but in doing so, He would have to die on a cross. "But He was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus was destined to fulfill the promises of God, that are recorded for us in the Old Testament. The promises is that God would send a descendant of Eve to defeat the devil and reverse the effects of the curse of sin (Genesis 3:15).
Jesus was destined to be wounded and bruised for the sins of this world. Jesus was destined to suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. He was destined to die on the cross to pay the penalty not for His own sins, for He had none, but to pay the ransom price for the sins of all who believes in Him. "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me" (John 6:38). Jesus was destined to do the will of His Father in heaven.
Jesus was destined to be the substitutionary sacrifice to atone for the sins of his people so that we would be saved from the just wrath of God. He was destined to come to earth, to save his people from their sins by His life, death, and resurrection. His great destiny had a purpose, to restore sinners to God so that we may have eternal life forever with Him. Jesus is the truest form of a "Destiny's Child!" His destiny gave us our destiny.
"And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:39-40).
A "destiny's child" is predestined by God. It is through God's sovereignty will this be made possible. As a person you cannot just step into your purpose. It is based on God's perfect timing. Being a "destiny's child is never about the person. The person is called to be used as a vessel. A vessel to honor, sanctify, and to be used for God's purpose. It is always for the glory of God.
