What is in a name? When Abraham was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to make you into a mighty nation." Genesis 17:1-2.
El Shaddai is one of the names of God. The name Shaddai appears 48 times in the Bible, seven times as "El Shaddai" (five times in Genesis, once in Exodus, and once in Ezekiel). The most common interpretation of Shaddai today is "might," and El Shaddai, would translate to "God Almighty."
Isn't it obvious that our God, who is the Creator of everything is "All Mighty" (El Shaddai). He is the Maker of all things, including us. For me, this isn't open for debate. "All things were made by Him, and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John 1:3). All things were created by the Lord, and He simply spoke them into existence. He is the greatest Construction Worker, because He is "the greatest builder of all things."
He is mighty and the everlasting God. He WAS, IS, and EVERMORE shall be. He is the everlasting KING and the Sovereign GOD. He is awesome and does "great and awesome" wonders. There is nothing too hard for Him. He has unlimited powers. We cannot even imagine all El Shaddai can do!
What a mighty God we serve and we need to always praise Him. Yet the wonder of all wonders is that the God who is El Shaddai humbled Himself to bring us salvation in His Son, Jesus Christ. This One who has the name above all names will be honored throughout eternity. All of God's creation will ascribe to Him, "glory, majesty, power and authority."
LET'S PRIASE EL SHADDAI FOREVER!
