FORGIVENESS!

Have you ever been betrayed? I have, on many occasions. The more you care about the betrayer, the deeper the pain.

Have you noticed that the more you do for a person, the more they have the nerves to think that you are supposed to do it like you owe them something. When in fact you owe them absolutely nothing.

Sometimes people can be cruel and unkind. Sometimes people are unappreciative of your kindness. Sometimes people become angry with you for no reason. Sometimes people will mistreat you and can be unfair to you. So, what do you do? God says to forgive them and forget. Luke 6:37 says, “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.”

Forgiveness is often defined as an individual, voluntary internal process of letting go of feelings and thoughts of resentment, bitterness, anger, and the need for vengeance and retribution toward someone who we believe has wronged us.

In forgiveness, Jesus tells us to be gracious to others because it is the right thing to do. He also tells us that perks come with doing so. So, what do you get when you forgive others? Benefits! You will be forgiven! What’s in it for you if you avoid condemning others? You will get the rich benefits of not being condemned.

If we are critical rather than compassionate, we will also receive criticism. If you treat others generously and graciously, it is a boomerang effect, it is coming back to you. We are to love others and forgive them and not judge.

Forgiveness is a choice you make and you have to make that choice over and over again.

Forgiveness is a gift to others and to yourself. A forgiving heart places you on a different stratosphere and marks you as a cut above the rest. In other words, having a forgiving heart makes you a “Super Hero”. Forgiveness gives you wings to help you move forward.

Forgiveness puts you in an entirely different group. You become part of a “Masterclass”. Mastering the art of love, the love of Christ, and to love others.
