GOD LOVES YOU

We cannot measure God's love for us nor can we really understand it. We will never know how wide, deep, tall, and long the love of Jesus. We are told repeatedly in the Bible that it was God's love for us that God sent Jesus to us.

How much do God loves you? God loves you beyond measure. John 3:16 tells us, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Because of God's love for us, He created mankind out of nothing and then made us SOMETHING.

God's love is like an unending ocean, like a reservoir of love that is always there. It is more than you can see. More than you can ever imagine. His love holds you when you need it. When you are at your lowest point, He sends His droplets of water to refresh you. He knows when and how much love to sprinkle on you and sometimes sprinkling water isn't enough, so He knows just how much to shower you with it, even if He has to almost drown you in His love.

God's love is gracious. Gracious means kind, courteous, and compassionate. The Spiritual meaning of gracious means kind, merciful, and forgiving. "Gracious" is the adjective from "Grace." "Grace" is a free and unmerited gift from God. Because of God's grace, God loved us before we were ever saved. It is through God's grace that we do not receive the punishment that we deserve. God's grace is defined as undeserved favor. God's grace cannot be earned. It is something that is freely given. God's grace is the overflow of His love, kindness, and mercy toward us.

God's love is powerful. God's love is so powerful that there could never be a sinner that God could not be save, but if they truly repent and put their faith and trust in Christ, they will be transformed into a child of God. First John 4:9-10 tells us, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."

The power of God's love is far beyond human comprehension. It is far too wonderful to be even compared to earthly love. It is only God's love and power that can save and forgive sin. God has this unique power of loving us that nothing can come between God's love for us. Romans 8:37-39 says, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God's love is perfect. His love is perfect because it is a total and complete "unconditional love." "Unconditional Love" is known as affection without any limitations, or love without conditions. Unlike unconditional love which represents a limitless form of love, conditional love is based upon conditions or expectations of the lover being met and satisfied. God's love is perfect and it is perfect because it is unconditional. God's love is not based on what we have done or can do for Him, because God doesn't need anything from us, but we need all things from Him. God loves us because that is who He is, LOVE.

God's love is unchanging. The word "unchanging" means remaining the same; constant. All throughout the Bible we see God's enduring nature of His love. He loved with an everlasting love. We see that people constantly doubted His love and yet He kept on loving them. God does not simply feel love, God is love. God's love for us comes from His very nature and it is self-giving in both that it is unconditional and unchanging. Nothing we could ever do, can stop God from loving us.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God. God's love cannot be taken away from us and neither can we be taken away from God's love. We have the assurance that God is for us, and this means that God loves us deeply. Since God, who is love, loves us so very much, who then can separate us from the love of Christ? No difficulties that we could ever go through can separate us from the love of Jesus. Whatever troubles or tribulation that is cause by others, if it is anxiety of the mind that cause distress, if we are persecuted, if we are faced with famines, or nakedness or dangers or threats to our lives, none of these things can minimized the love that God has for us. Sometimes people are confronted with many difficulties and they will have the tendency to believe that God has stopped loving them or they may believe that maybe God never did love them. Some people may even question their faith in God. But people must believe that the difficulties that we face could never nor would never ever minimized God's love for us. Before we were born, God foreknew ever difficulty we would ever face.

In love God predestined us. "And those he predestined, he also called; those he called he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified" (Romans 8:30). Predestined means an outcome or course of events that was determined in advance by divine will or fate. It carries the meaning of "determining beforehand," "deciding ahead of time." God predestined us to be adopted as his sons and daughters through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His purpose and of His will. So predestined is God determining certain things to occur ahead of time. So what did God determine ahead of time? That certain individuals would be conformed to the likeness of His Son Jesus, and they would be "called," "justified," and "glorified."

In others words, God set His affection on us in eternity past. In His foreknowledge, He looked down through the passage of time and saw which one of us would respond to the Gospel in faith. He looked through time and saw who would respond, so that He could respond to them. God has the foreknowledge not just seeing the future, but knowing the future as well. God is, by His very nature, omniscient, meaning that God is all- knowing. God is all-knowing in the sense that He is always aware of the past, present, and future. Nothing can take God by surprise, because His knowledge is completely total.

God created you, so that He could redeem you, and this was done all because He loves you. You are the object of His love because you are in Christ; therefore the Father loves the Son so much that His love overflows onto all that believes in Him. When you can truly understand the extent to which God went through to secure your salvation, you can do nothing but give God the glory and the praise. Our God is all good, perfectly righteous, perfectly holy and just, and He loves you and me with an unconditional and unending love.
