GOD'S PROMISES

The Bible has so many promises in it. God is the God of promises. By faith, you must trust the promises of God. When God makes a promise, you better believe it will be fulfilled. You have to wait for it by faith. You wait for it in hope. You wait for it in patience. You wait for it in anticipation. You wait for it in expectation. You may have to wait in sorrow. You may have to painfully wait. And yet, you just wait.

Abraham waited for God's promise for more than 20 years. Joseph waited 13 years. Moses waited for 25 years. Jesus waited for 30 years. So if you are yet waiting, then you are in very good company. God keeps His promises, even it it seems impossible. Just because there is a delay, it doesn't negate God's promises.

Abraham describes it as, "him who had the promises." God promised Abraham and Sarah, that from them would arise a great nation. He promised them a child at the age of 100 and 90, respectfully. The Lord kept His promise.

For those who feed on God's promise, you will never spiritually starve or be thirsty. So many people place their hope and faith in the wrong things. Some people put their trust in their money, relationships, jobs, status, etc. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). God's promises are as solid as a rock.

The number of promises in the Bible varies from 8,000 to 30,000. We probably cannot determine the exact number of promises in the Scripture, one thing that we can agree on, that not one of God's promises will ever failed to come through. It is impossible for God to lie.

As a believer, God promised forgiveness of sins. We are also promised the Holy Spirit. Jesus called the Holy Spirit "the Promise of My Father." The forgiveness of sins and the Holy Spirit are in Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Isn't it amazing that God takes away our sins and fills us with His Holy Spirit. Jesus promised us an abundant life. God cannot lie! God promised us that we will be heirs in His kingdom, "Hearken, my beloved brethren. Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?" (James 2:5). Another promised He made, that there be new heavens and a new earth (2 Peter 3:13). It will be something that we have never been seen before and we can't even dream of it or imagine how it will be. Only the righteousness will dwell in this new "Promised Land." God promised us as a believer, a home in heaven (John 14:1-3). We have Christ's Word on this! Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2).

The promises of God is for everybody. By one Spirit we are all baptized into one body. There is only one body! "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith, one baptism" (Ephesians 4:4-5). As one body, we are the body of Christ. Our hearts should beat as one, our minds should think as one, our eyes should see as one, our ears should hear as one, our mouth speak as one. We are the body of Christ.

I believe God's promises! I receive God's promises! I am standing on God's promises!
