The Names of God, "Jehovah Magen." It means, "The Lord My Shield."
"Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of they help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thous shalt tread upon their high places" Deuteronomy 33:29.
This piece of scripture was part of Moses' song. When Moses has finished writing down all the laws that are recorded in this book (Deuteronomy), he instructed the Levites, who carried the Ark containing the Ten Commandments, to put this book of the law beside the Ark, as a solemn warning to the people of Israel. So Moses recited this entire song to the whole assembly of Israel.
Jehovah is our shield and protector. We need God in everything that we do. The enemy is always at war with the children of God, be it emotionally, physically or spiritually. No one can protect us better that our "Shield", who is God. As children of God, we are always under the protected umbrella of God.
