The Names of God, "Jehovah Maginnenu." It means, "The Lord Our Defense."
"For the Lord is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our king" Psalm 89:18.
The New Scofield Reference Bible calls it the psalm of the Davidic covenant. This psalm was written by Etan the Ezrahite. Ethan was probably a singer who belonged to the tribe of Levi.
We are attack by our enemies daily. We are accused by Satan every second of the day, as well. We are lied on, talked about, and face accusation. As children we would often say, 'Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." But words do hurt us. Only the Truth, can defend us. The Truth, is God! The Lord is our Defense. We just need to place our trust in God, as our Defender, He is everything that we need to fight a world full of people that specializes in throwing "sticks and stones" at us.
