So many people do not live in the moment. Why? Maybe because they spend each moment of their everyday life, looking and visiting their pass or focusing on their future.
Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. To live in the moment means to be attentive to the present moment. To live in the moment means not dwelling on the past, nor being anxious or worried about the future.
Life is a journey in which we travel down the road of uncertainty and many unpredictabilities. Now there will be some turbulent storms along the way and many roads filled with potholes in them, but that's life.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our past, focusing on past mistakes and bad choices, that we miss the specialness of each moment afforded us during the day. We become so focus on the past that we can’t appreciate the opportunities that God is offering us now, in the present. When you are living in the past you can't enjoy the present. It's okay to reminisce, but to remain in the land of would'a, should'a, could'a is very unhealthy. Scripture tells us, "A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit" (Proverbs 15:13).
Living in the past will have you focused on those unfortunate moments and past toxic relationships. Living in the past and holding on to the guilt for the mistakes you made isn’t going to do you any good. Stop blaming yourself for everything that went wrong in your life. Beating yourself up over past mistakes are not going to change anything. No amount of guilt can erase the mistakes you made in the past. It's time to move on, forgive yourself and start enjoying each day of your life, in each moment of your life. The Bible says, "...though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again..." (Proverbs 24:16a). Everyday is a new day. You may fall, but you will rise again.
Quoting from Dalai Lama, "There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other is called tomorrow, so today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live." There are many reasons to live in the moment. Life unfolds only in moments. Living in the past or living in the future only, is not living in the moment, because they only exists as thoughts only. You have to let go of what you thought should have happened and live in what is happening now. That's living in the moment.
We must be grateful for each and every moment. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 says, "...there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God."
Living in the moment means to enjoy life while you can. How exciting would it be to live every moment to the max. You still have not experienced your greatest moment yet. It's time to enjoy your life, taking one moment at a time.
