P.U.S.H.

I use to walk at the local community track. While walking, not only is my body benefiting, but also my brain gets some exercise, too. Depending on how long it may take for my thoughts to be processed, my walk may range from thirty minutes to an hour and a half.

Recently, my son and I have started walking through my neighborhood. The route has some hills and valleys. At the beginning of our route, there is a huge hill. When, I first introduced my son to this route, I had an inward laugh, I was wondering how would he handle the tiny Mt. Everest, but he handled it well.

Sometimes, when taking this route, my mind will have the tendency to play tricks on me. I may find myself saying, I don’t feel like tackling, tiny Mt. Everest today, but something inside of me, tells me that I can, if I just PUSH myself to move forward. Then my brain starts exercising with my legs. I will start thinking through a problem or a project and the next thing I know, I have already climbed the hill and has reached the half-way point of my walking route.

In life, we are presented with many hills and valleys experiences. Everything is great while we are on smooth sailings, it’s the hills and valleys that makes life problematic and difficult. While climbing our hill, we will go through some unpleasantries. These unpleasantries, maybe some, doubt, pain, anxiety, confusion, sadness, and frustration. These are emotions and God has wired us with them. There are basic emotions (joy, trust, surprise) and basic opposite emotions (sadness, anger, and disgust). While we are tackling our hills, we will be confronted with the basic opposite emotions and these emotions have us seeking God as never before, or at least should. Don't worry, God got you! We have to P.U.S.H. What is P.U.S.H? Pray Until Something Happens. We have to P.U.S.H our way through every hill experience and every obstacle that confronts us. With every step we take while moving forward, we have to lean on Jesus and P.U.S.H.

Prayer will help us get through any Mt. Everest challenge. You maybe dealing with a loss, whether you loss your job, an opportunity, or a relationship, you will need to P.U.S.H. You maybe dealing with failure. There is not a single person alive who hasn’t experience failure of some kind, but P.U.S.H. Maybe you are facing a setback of some kind. Setbacks have many names, missteps, monkey wrenches, and unforeseen circumstances. Setbacks always, somehow seems to introduce itself to us on our journey, just P.U.S.H.

Maybe you are having family relationship problems. All homes are not stable and some are not a refuge. Many home situations maybe toxic or negative, just P.U.S.H. Maybe you are dealing with disappointments. Disappointments in love or friendship. A disappointment in love can damage our self esteem. Deception in love can lead to distrust, but you can’t allow your fear to get the better of you. The betrayal of a friend is painful, but P.U.S.H. Regardless of whatever challenges that are confronting you, substance abuse, lack of affordable housing, health issues, negative stereotypes, lack of employment, or financial crisis, just P.U.S.H.

This is not pushing God to do anything, because we can’t. This isn’t about pushing God at all. It is about PUSHING yourself into God. It is not just praying for the sake of praying. This is a different type of prayer. This is a type of prayer of hunger for God. It is praying until you see the Hand of God moving. Whatever hill you are climbing, just P.U.S.H. God will turn that hill into a mountaintop. When you have reached the top of the hill, turn around and look down, then you will realize that, you have arrived to the top. All you had to do was just, P.U.S.H. You simply, Prayed Until Something Happened!
