SHEKINAH GLORY

What is the meaning of Shekinah Glory? Shekinah Glory is a visible manifestation of God on earth. The word shekinah is a Hebrew name, meaning "dwelling" or "one who dwells."

The Bible has referenced supernatural lights that glowed around objects or in natural things. This light represented God's presence. That supernatural light is called "the glory of God." Below is a few examples of Shekinah Glory found in the Bible:

* A cloud, found in Exodus 24:16-18.

* A pillar of smoke, found in Exodus 13:21-22

* A burning bush, found in Exodus 3:2.

* Located above the Ark, in 1 Samuel 4:21.

The first biblical reference of Shekinah Glory is recorded in Exodus after the Israelites was released from slavery out of Egypt. When God appeared to them as a pillar of cloud and fire, while encamped at Etham. "And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night. He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, not the pillar of fire by night, from before the people." (Exodus 13:20-22)

In the New Testament, Jesus is the manifestation of Shekinah Glory. "For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power." (Colossians 2:9-10)

In Revelation, this same Shekinah (the glory of God) appears again, but this time with the final judgment and the coming of Jesus. "And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped." (Revelation 14:14-16)

Shekinah Glory is the divine presence of God. God promised to always be among us. When you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, that allowed the Lord's Holy Spirit to dwells within you.
