SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY!

What does it means, "sleeping with the enemy?" In a personal situation, sleeping with the enemy could mean working with someone you dislike to accomplish something important. For example, if you share a mutual friend with someone you dislike. It could also mean, having a relationship with someone who is an enemy or on the enemy's side.

1 Peter 5:8 says, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

Lions often hunt at night. The devil is compared to a roaring lion on the lookout for someone to devour. Does he literally comes and physically consumes us? NO, he consumes us in other subtle ways. He consumes our relationships and our thoughts.

He replaces our peacefulness with accusations. There we are in a state of quietness and reverence of the Lord, then we become overshadowed by tormenting fear and thoughts.

Our enemy catches the scent of an unresolved anger as a lion detects the blood of his prey. He is prowling and watching for those who are not in self-control.

Anger will overshadow that still small voice of God. Anger keeps excellent and perfect records of past wrongs, hurts and pain. The accuser dispatches his messengers and they will whisper loudly in your ear as you drift off to sleep. They intensify the attacks, while replaying images of past hurts and pains. When you have awaken, unbeknown to you, you have been sleeping with the enemy. You awake to find yourself purely exhausted, angry, and deeply wounded.

God wants us to sleep in the light of truth. His truth! The Bible reminds us to be sober, vigilant, alert, and with self-controlled. That's why it is so very important to read the Bible and commune with the Lord daily. We should always pray, without ceasing and ask for forgiveness, so that guilt will not have a stronghold on us.

When we live in anger, the enemy will dispel darkness into our lives. As children of God, our lives should always be lived as light. Anger is darkness, mercy and forgiveness is light.

"But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble" (Proverbs 4:18-19).

We need to release anger and live our lives in forgiveness toward others and ourselves. So please, no more sleeping with the enemy.

Jesus was more brokenhearted and betrayed than anyone, yet HE never allowed Himself to "sleep with the enemy." He can help you with all of your concerns and problems.
