Sowing discord is one of the most heinous sins in the Bible. It is a wicked sin fathered by pride and it was found in Lucifer, when he was in heaven. He sowed discord, to a third of God's Holy angels, who was persuaded to disobey God. Sowing discord is done, usually in secret, through sneakiness, gossip, lies, and deception. The father and author of discord is Satan. All sowers of discord are those who breathes lies and deceit. Sowers of discord will usually start off small, like a trail of water, then it flows to other places, causing flooding everywhere, causing sometimes, irreparable damage in hearts and minds.
To sow discord, is doing things to cause distrust among one another, which can result into arguments, fights, and death. People can pass vicious rumors, not knowing that they are unintentionally sowing discord. Spreading rumors is one of the many ways of sowing discord. The Bible says, "Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends" (Proverbs 17:9).
Sowing discord is an abomination and is totally detestable in the eyes of the Lord. "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among the brothers" (Proverbs 6:16-19). God hates discord and denounce those who sows strife. "A perverse man sow's strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends" (Proverbs 16:28).
God hates discord! Some people are far to ready to stir up strife, quarrels, fights, either for money, power, revenge, control, envy, or for their own glory and honor, or it could be for a combination of these reasons. The Bible says, "Let me describe for you a worthless and a wicked man; first, he is a constant liar; he signals his true intentions to his friends with eyes and feet and fingers. He is always thinking up new schemes to swindle people. He stirs up trouble everywhere" (Proverbs 6:12-14). This is the type of person that does something for their own gratification, satisfying their own evil desires. They deceive people to please themselves. They are telling lies and deceiving people and causing division. They are self-gratifying, sowing the seeds of bitterness, anger, distrust, and hatred into the ground of other people's hearts. These actions comes from the spirit of the deceiver, the devil. They are "the works of the flesh." "Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God" (Galatians 5:20-21).
To sow, means to plant seeds. The one who sows seeds of discord, carefully chooses the circumstance and the victim or victims. The intent is to deliberately produce discord to hurt or discredit that person, in some way or another. The sower of the discord, has a nasty, corrupt, evil spirit that produces a harvest of discord. What kind of seeds produce a harvest of discord? The seed of pride, selfishness, back-biting, gossip, bitterness, jealousy, and the likes.
Sowers of discord, are driven to serve their own evil and dark interests. They exploit the emotions and passions of others, because they receive pleasure from causing conflicts and harm. They are playing into the hands of the dark spiritual forces.
God hates discord and He hates those who sow discord. As children of God, we must do everything to avoid sowing discord, intentionally or unintentionally. Remember, every idle word we speak will come under judgment. "You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For a man's heart determines his speech. A good man's speech reveals the rich treasures within him. An evil-hearted man is filled with venom, and his speech reveals it. And I tell you this, that you must give account on Judgment Day for every idle word you speak. Your words now reflect your fate: either you will be justified by them or you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:34-37).
