A promise is a commitment by someone to do or not do something.
The person who makes the declaration is the Promisor. The person to whom the declaration is made is called the Promisee.
Has someone ever made you a promise and they broke their promise? Have you ever made someone a promise and broke it? Broken promises are real heartbreakers and are true disappointments.
Some people specialize in broken promises. Sometimes, in some circumstances, you may have to break a promise. Sometimes, we forget the promises that we made to others.
People make all kinds of promises. Some people will make some serious promises and by telling you that they will love you forever. Some people promise that they will always be faithful to you. Some may borrow money from you and promise, no swear, that they are going to pay you back. Some promises are serious and some are not, so serious. But a promise is a promise, right? It appears that some people don’t take their promises seriously. They break their promises all of the time. A promise is a promise! When promises are broken, people are misled and the bonds of trust are breached. No, promises are not made to be broken and lies are not meant to be told.
There is a person, who never breaks His promises, and that person is our heavenly Father. It is the nature of God that makes His promises, trustworthy and something sure to stand on. God is unchanging in His character, His will, and His promises. We can have absolute confidence in God’s reliability to make good on his promises, because of his character.
God’s Word is filled with promises. The Bible is the ultimate source for truth and God is faithful to fulfill all His promises.
There are Bible verses about the promises of God. He promises freedom from deliverance from sin and evil, financial provision, hope for the lost, help for those who are hurting, overcoming depression, health, healing, being free from fear, anxiety, strength, and many more blessings and gifts that are promised, for those who believe in Jesus.
What are the promises of God? There are many promises of God in Scripture. In each promise, God pledges what He will or will not do. The promises that God makes are UNEQUIVOCAL commitments, made by Himself. God cannot lie nor is he an Indian Thief.
God promised that if we search for Him, we will find Him. God promised protection for His children. God promised that His love will never fail. He is faithful in every way. God promised salvation to all who believe in His Son. There is no greater blessing than this FREE gift of God’s salvation. God promised us a new life in Christ. Salvation is our new beginning. God promised to supply our needs. He didn’t say that we would get everything that we wanted, but that he would take care of our needs.
His promises tell us not to worry, nor fear, and gives us strength. His promises have a plan for us, with blessings and hope. His promises provide us with encouragement and trust. His promises, promise us with grace and salvation. His promises offer us purification, awe, and holiness. His promises tell us that we should seek and receive our reward. He promises that, grace, faith, obedience, and listening, is the door of eternal life.
No matter how many promises God has made, they are all “YES, IN CHRIST," (2 Corinthians 1:20).
God is the Promisor, we are the Promisee, for the Promises to be fulfilled.
This is a beautiful tribute to a deserving man of God!
