THE QUICKSAND OF REGRET!

Regret will keep you looking into the rearview mirror of your life. It keeps you from moving forward. It paralyzes you. It steals from you. You become stuck in quicksand. The more you struggle, the deeper you sink.

Regret will introduce to you, bitterness, anxiety, self-disgust, self-accusation, discomfort, sorrowfulness, and uneasiness. It will whisper dissatisfaction, spiritual disturbance, pain, grief and contrition.

It makes you look back and have qualms about that situation. It will cause you to weep over it and become disturbed about it. It will cause you to feel uneasy and will have you kicking yourself about it. You will find yourself crying over spilled milk and will start feeling sorry for yourself.

Oh, the sadness, disappointments, the feelings of let down. You become conscience stricken, and your heart aches. If only you could feel and be content, satisfied, happy and rejoiceful. But the shame brings about distress, anguish, remorse, and bitterness, which makes you so disgruntled and distressed and the "woe is me" starts kicking in and now you are feeling "self pity." What a perfect recipe for the "Quicksand of Regret."

Regret is like quicksand, the more you wiggle in it, the deeper you sink into despair. Regret can lead to sorrow and leave you a bitter person. We all have some regret, because we all are human.

We all make mistakes. We all are human. No one can predict the outcome of their actions while it is being performed. Making mistakes are a part of life.

Regrets can either burden your life or motivate you to move forward, because you cannot undo or redo that which has been done or not done. But you can take steps to get over the guilt and shame and move past the regrets.

"To err is human, to forgive divine!" Nobody is perfect and we all need forgiveness. We all wished we could turn back the hands of time and fix things. But unfortunately, we can't and we do have to live with our mistakes. Everyone born into this world is a fallen human. We sin and we will make mistakes. No matter how hard we try to avoid it, we can't help it. We are human and we are prone to make mistakes. King David said, "Surely, I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." Psalm 51:5.

As Christians, we have received the wonderful power of the Holy Spirit and He helps us forgive when we find it painful and difficult to do so. To forgive through the power of the Holy Spirit is "divine."

In God's eyes, we have no past, only a great future. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Mistakes will turn into regrets and they are painful when they are made, but guess what? Later in life, when you reflect on them, those collections of mistakes, you will realized that they are what is called, LIFE'S EXPERIENCES. So moving forward, look at the regrets from the mistakes and recognize them for what they are. They are your stepping stones to wisdom. We learn from them and we become wiser by understanding those situations that we don't want to ever repeat again. You are a much better person now, because you are no longer that person back then.
