TREASURE HUNT

Do you know what a treasure hunt is? A treasure hunt means to search for treasures. A treasure hunt is a game in which each person attempts to be first in finding something that has been hidden.

As children, we use to play this game. The goal of the game was to lead us through a set of clues that would take us from place to place to find a treasure. We would read each clue that we found, and try to figure out the next location.

Example:

Clue #1- Keeping food cold is important you see. This is the place where the milk will be.

Clue #2 - “Ding Dong” is the sound that comes from this place. It means that someone is here to see you, face to face.

Do you know that there is a Godly treasure hunt? Absolutely so! King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, left us a legacy of written wisdom in three volumes; Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. In these three books, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he gives practical insights and guidelines for life.

Yes, if you want better insight and discernment, and if you search for them as would for lost money or hidden treasure, then wisdom will be given to you, and knowledge of God himself. “For the Lord grants wisdom! His every word is a treasure of knowledge and understanding.”

Wisdom is both a God-given gift and an energetic search. Wisdom’s starting point, is God and his Word, the “treasure of knowledge and understanding”. In this sense, it is his gift to us. But he gives it only to those who earnestly seek it. The pathway to wisdom is strenuous. When we are searching for it, we discover that true wisdom belongs to God, and that we cannot create it by our own efforts.

Wisdom comes through a constant process of growth. First, we must trust and honor God. Second, we must realize that the Bible reveals God’s wisdom to us. Third, we must make a lifelong series of right choices. Fourth, when we make a mistake, and we will, we must learn from it.

Knowledge is good, but there is a vast difference between knowledge (having the facts), and wisdom (applying those facts to your life). We may amass knowledge, but without wisdom, our knowledge is useless.

The person who has Wisdom is loyal, kind, trusts in the Lord, puts God first, turn from evil, knows right from wrong, listens, and learns, and does what is right.

When we choose God’s way, he grants us wisdom. “Wisdom gives: A long, good life, riches, honor, pleasure, peace.” (Proverbs 3:17)

Wisdom! What a treasure to search for. It is worth the treasure hunt.
