In the deep recess of our unconscious, there is a well of creativity. Creativity is the source of our imagination. In each of us there are hidden treasures and ideas just waiting to be tapped and discovered.
Imagination is the ability to form a mental image of something that is not perceived through the five senses; hearing, taste, smell, touch, and vision. It is the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, pictures, objects or events that do not exist, or not present, or have happened in the past. This ability can manifest in many forms and with our imagination, we can travel anywhere, and with no obstacles.
An imagination allows us the freedom to be as creative as we want to be. Our imagination allows us to be our truest self. You can visualize what you want to do, or be, build, or create, to your heart's desire.
We use our imagination even when we don't think that we are imagining anything. We daydream and fantasize all throughout the day. What a wonderful thing! Our imagination stirs our creative juices which allows us to create some unlimited ideas, dreams, and inspirations.
Our imagination is very powerful and God gave us this very powerful gift. An imagination is not bad or evil, but mankind is. We can use our imagination to become whatever we want to be. God gave us this wonderful gift, our imagination, and He meant for it to be used for good and not for evil. Your imagination can lead you to God or lead you away from God. Romans 1:21 says: "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."
Beware of the tricks of the enemy, Satan. The enemy can manipulate your thoughts. He uses tricks and deceit and worldly mindsets to pervert believers in using their imagination in sinful and unhealthy ways. He will have you imagine false ideas about God. He will have you to imagine that money is your security blanket, instead of God. He will make you think that you are better than other people, through pride. He will have you to image all kinds of evil schemes to manipulate and take advantage of other people. He will have you image pessimistic, negative, fearful, and evil thoughts. Never forget who your enemy is and how he wish to destroy you. The Bible tells us, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12). The problem arrives when you use your imagination to focus on sinful things. God did not give you your imagination to focus on evil thoughts. He wouldn't! He couldn't! He didn't! He never did nor never will!
God gave us the gift of imagination for a reason. For godly purposes. When you focus on God, in all things, you will find yourself using your imagination for God's glory. Your imagination can be used to show you how to help other people. Your imagination can be used in knowing how someone may feel when they are grieving, during an illness, suffering from disappointments, and dealing with life's challenges. Your imagination can show you how to support and encourage other people. Your imagination can be used in furthering God's kingdom. Your imagination is what you can use to captivate every thought toward the obedience of Christ Jesus. Your imagination can catapult you to be more Christ-like.
You know what? Faith uses our imagination. Faith allows us to see things that are not as though they were: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). Faith confirms what we can only see through our imagination, because it has not come to fruition. God wants us to use our imagination in connection with our faith: "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6).
Imagination allows you to turn your dreams into reality. There are no boundaries to your passion when you are under the influence of your imagination. You have wings when you live through imagination. Imagination rules the world. Imagination will take you to worlds that never were. If only you can imagine! "I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me" (Philippians 4:13). Can you imagine what you could or would do if only you can do all things through Christ? Imagine that!
