Your eye is slightly an asymmetrical globe, about an inch in diameter. The front part (what you see in the mirror) includes:
* Iris: The color part.
* Cornea: A clear dome over the iris.
* Pupil: The black circular opening in the iris that lets light in.
* Sclera: The white of your eye.
* Conjunctiva: A thin layer of tissue that covers the entire front of the eye,
except for the cornea.
When our attention is attracted to something remarkable, we call it "eye catching," or an "eye opener." When we watch something carefully, we are "keeping our eye on the ball." When a person is skilled at something, it is said that they have an "eye for it."
When we understand a point, we say, "Oh, I see now." When we do not plan ahead, we are said to be "Short-sighted." When we ignore an action, we "turn a blind eye" to it. When we disapprove of something, we "take a dim view of it."
Eyes and sight are frequently used in figures of speech throughout the Bible and in our everyday lives, and how we perceived God.
God, the Creator of everything and everyone, who formed us in His own image, can He not see everything? Psalm 95:9 states, "He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see?" The eyes of God teaches us that God is omniscient. God sees everything and know about everything, everywhere.
"And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom we must answer." (Hebrews 4:13)
God knew us before we were in our mother's womb. He knew the day of our death, before we were born. He knows our beginning and our ending. God's sight is not limited by time or place.
He knows our inner most thoughts. The eyes of God is everywhere. He keeps watch on those who are good and evil. He distinguishes between right and wrong.
"For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their wrong doing concealed from My eyes.' (Jeremiah 16:17)
You can hide under the covers. You can hide inside of your home. You can even drop into the grave, but you will never be able to hide from the gaze of God. May you always remember that the all-seeing eye of God is everywhere.
Father God, please keep me as the apple of your eye. May your eye Father, be always kept on your little sparrow, that's me.
