I know we are reminded, in the Bible, about we should always forgive and practice forgiveness. Forgiveness transforms anger and hurt into healing and peace. Forgiveness helps us to let go of the wrongs others have done to us. It helps us to have better relationships. It brings peace to our spiritual being.
I believe there is an art to forgiveness. Especially when that person has treated you brutally, but through the help of the Lord, you can, with time, learn to forgive the worst of them. But there is one who we find so difficult to forgive. Who is that person? YOURSELF!
Lingering in the past and not letting go, is like living in a forever nightmare. It's like inflicting self-punishment. You keep opening that door to your past and walking through a time warp. You keep replaying those negative situations in your mind, over and over again. You have become a hostage to your past by always reliving and reviewing your mistakes. STOP, reminding yourself of the should haves, could haves, and would haves.
Please close that door to your past mistakes and bad decisions. Once you close the door, then lock it, and throw away the key!
To practice the art of Forgiveness, it starts with you forgiving yourself. Your healing starts when you let go and let God. In order to heal, you must forgive! Do you want peace? Then FORGIVE yourself. Forgiving yourself is a gift from you, to you.
You can learn to forgive the person you were, by accepting the person that you are now, and believe, just believe in the person you will become. When you do this, then you have forgiven yourself. You have been healed. So now live in peace and go and celebrate yourself.
YOU ARE HEALED, NOW FORGIVE!
