How do you feel when you receive a gift? I love giving gifts and I love to receive them as well. Oh, the excitement of it all! It feels really good to receive a gift. It feels equally as good because it let you know that someone thought about you in a kind and generous way.
We as humans want to feel special. We want to be loved. Matter of fact, we crave for that special feeling of being happy and wanted.
Receiving a gift is just another human behavior of feeling special and happy.
Giving a gift must come from the heart. When you give gifts, you are giving something willingly and without wanting something in return.
We give people gifts for a number of reasons and occasions. We give gifts to celebrate a birthday. We give gifts to show appreciation to someone special. We give gifts just to say, “thank you”. We give gifts for a promotion, a new job, when someone purchases a new home, to apologize, and because someone passed a test.
No matter what the reason is for giving gifts, the best presents are those that come from the heart.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (James 1:17).
So God gave us the Perfect Gift! What was that? He gave us Jesus Christ! Jesus is the long-awaited Savior, who was prophesied to come in the book of Genesis, when God told the serpent that He would put enmity between it and the seed of the woman. While the serpent would strike His heel (by His crucifixion), ultimately Jesus would crush his head (when He was resurrected).
God loves us. His love is so very deep for us. It is deeper and more profound than we could ever imagine. God’s love for us is so great that He sent His only Son to this sinful world to die for our sins. By doing this, God offers us the priceless gift of “eternal life”.
Only you can decide (if you have not accepted Jesus) to accept God’s gift. Only you can accept God’s gift or reject it. Only you can decide to invite Christ into your heart and into your life.
When God’s gift is accepted, you will become a child of God, His friend, a member of the Body of Christ, redeemed and forgiven of all your sins. But not just that, you will be an “overcomer” and receive “eternal life.”
Let’s give thanks to our Lord and Savior for His incomprehensible gift of redemption.
Even while Jesus was hanging on the cross, the people mocked Him, shouting, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One” (Luke 23:35).
Let’s praise God and thank Him that He didn’t get off that cross, because what they didn’t know, Jesus was saving them and us, when He died upon the cross.
One just needs to accept this precious and mighty special gift from God. The gift of “SALVATION”!
