HOW DO I LOVE THEE,LET ME COUNT THE WAYS

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

“How do I love thee, let me count the ways” is a line from the 43rd sonnet of Sonnets from the Portuguese, a collection of 44 love sonnets written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Mrs. Browning likens her romantic love for her beloved husband to a religious or spiritual feeling.

There is something so magical about being in love. Feeling love, brings up all kinds of emotions that run the gamut from agony to ecstasy. Being in love, can make you feel so happy that you have ever been, then sometimes so sadder than you have ever been, and at times even angrier than you thought that you could ever get. Being in love, sometimes is just bitter and yet so sweet.

People have searched for so many ways to find the right words to say, “I Love You.” When you first fall in love you have those butterflies in your stomach and don’t mention that warm fuzzy feeling in your head and how your heart seems to skip a million beats inside of your chest.

But one thing we do know is that, whether you have loved and won, or loved and lost, when love is real, it is always worth it, and where love is, God is. God loves us. God wants us to love Him and He wants us to love each other. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

God loves us deeply. As children of God, He loves us because we belong to Him. He loves us because we are a part of Him. From before the time we were born, God loved us. God loves us to the moon and back. There is nothing that we can do to stop Him from loving us.

He doesn’t love everything that we say or do. He doesn’t agree with some of the choices that we make. He hurts when he sees us in our pain. God loves us when we are good and he loves us when we are bad. He loves us when we are brilliant and He loves us when we do foolish things. He will try to help us and guide us, to make better choices for better outcomes, but through it all, God loves us.

God truly loves us, and we don’t have to beg Him to love us. We don’t have to entice Him to love us. We don’t have to solicit Him to love us. We don’t have to wait for Him to love us. God loves us completely and unconditionally. Right now and forevermore. God promises us that He will always love us.

HOW DEEP DO GOD LOVES US? WE CANNOT COUNT THE WAYS!

“As the Father has loved ME (Jesus), so have I loved you," John 15:9 NIV.
