Sometimes we just need God to speak to us. We just need to hear a word from Him, through a dream, a confirmation, a sign, or through someone. We simply need to hear words of comfort and reassurance, from God. Right now, while writing this, I am crying out to God to please speak to me. I need to hear something from him. There are times that I feel lost. I need to know my purpose in life, because now I feel that God has rerouted me. I thought that I knew my purpose in life, before my husband died, but now, I feel a shift in my life and I just don’t know what God wants me to do. I need God to speak to me.
God does speak to us. Some skeptics think that God doesn’t speak any more. Really, I beg to differ. What they think, that God has lost His voice or that he has laryngitis. God never changes, if He spoke back in Biblical times, he is still speaking today.
God is speaking to us, but are we listening to Him? Does He speak to us audibly? Yes, through His Holy Spirit. He spoke to Adam and Eve. He spoke to Moses and He speaks to us. How? In so many different ways.
Angels are still on their job. Angels are God’s heavenly agents that are on assignment from God. They are God’s messengers sent to minister to Jesus’ heirs. There are many Scriptures in the Bible where angels informed, warned or conveyed divine messages to individuals. They are still doing that today.
“I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams," Acts 2:17. God also speaks to us through dreams and visions. A vision is an inspired appearance (something you see literally with your eyes or in your mind or spirit). A dream is something seen in your sleep. God can insert images and ideas into our minds whether we are conscious or not.
God also speaks to us through signs and wonders. In the Bible, Gideon put a fleece out seeking confirmation of God’s will and God confirmed His will for Gideon. There is nothing too hard or complicated for God. We serve a supernatural God of many signs and glorious wonders.
God uses people to speak to us. God uses humans through preachers, teachers, kids, friends, you and me to speak through. God can even use your enemy to speak for Him. God can and will use any vessel to distribute His message in anything including a sermon, songs, and writings.
God is speaking to you now. God will speak to us even more, when we learn to recognize His voice. He speaks to us oftentimes by the inner voice through His Holy Spirit to our spirit. We just need to stop, pay attention, and listen. Oftentimes He doesn’t shout, he often speaks to us in a soft gentle whisper. Listen, God is speaking, are you listening?
