THE DOOR

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

Have you ever found yourself standing in front of a door that you have never seen before? Of course, you have. It could be the first time you’ve been to a new address, a business or a residence. But you found yourself standing there. The first time you walk through a door, you are always surprised or maybe disappointed at what’s behind that door.

Anytime you open a door, you are entering through a doorway. It could be a home, a car, an elevator, an office building, a church, or a hospital. Either way, it’s a door.

Life is full of doors. Doors of opportunities and doors of disappointments. Life itself is full of both limitations and unlimited possibilities. When you walk through one door, sometimes many doors may open for you, and sometimes doors will close before you.

Life is like a hospital. When you enter the front door of a hospital, the main door presents to you a collage of doors that leads to different treatment doors. There is the door that leads to the Emergency Room. There are doors that will lead you to different examination rooms. There are doors that will lead you to X-Ray rooms. There are doors that will lead you to surgical rooms. There are doors that will lead you to critical care and ICU rooms. Each door has a purpose and each door has it’s benefits that caters to each individual’s needs.

Doors are entryways to possibilities. That is how God works in our lives. As a child of God, He will open doors for us and He will close doors, as well. Some doors, He will post the sign, “No Entry”. Some doors, He unlocks for us, and some doors he locks, and then, may throw away the key. Mama used to say, “when one door is closed, God opens another one.” She is so correct. I am so thankful to God for closing those necessary doors for me. I am super thankful for the doors and those doorways that transitioned into passageways that lead me from one place to another, all ordained by God. Those doors that God opened, that no man can shut. How awesome is God! Revelation 3:8 says, “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door which no one can shut…”. What a great verse for those who are weary and feel broken, disheartened, and feels insignificant. God opens doors that no one can shut and shuts doors that no one can open. God is always in complete control. He always will open doors of opportunity for each and every one of His children, as He sees fit, and He closes all doors that He doesn’t want us to go through.

There are many Bible verses about opening doors, Act 14:27 tells us that prayer is the way to get God to open doors for us. Paul wrote this letter to the Galatians while he was staying in Antioch after completing his first missionary journey. They had come together as a Church and they reported about all the things that God had done for them and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. Isn’t God good!

God opens all kinds of doors for us. Be careful, that you don’t allow Satan to obstruct your view with obstacles. Also, please be appreciative of the small opportunities that are afforded to you. Nothing is worse than missing an opportunity that could have made a difference in your life. Sometimes the “small things” and the “small opportunities” are the doors to the doorway for your achievements.

Most times, things don’t work out as plan. That doesn’t mean that God hasn’t answered our prayers. God is sovereignty, and He has infinite ways to give us what we need and put us where we are supposed to be. When God closes a door, He may not open another door, He may simply open a window.

Listen, I hear something. I hear God opening doors of opportunity for you and for me.
