THE GOOD SHEPHERD

The birth of Christ Jesus, I believe, is the most famous Bible story of all times. Every year at Christmas we see across the world the nativity scenes. Jesus was born in a stable because there was no room at the inn.

The Gospels of both Matthew and Luke place the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The Gospel of Luke states that Mary gave birth to Jesus in a stable and places Him in a manger. This stable could be a place where the sheep within Bethlehem were kept.

When He was born, then He was laid in a manger among sheep. How ironic! The Good Shepherd, as a babe, lying among sheep. The Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep (that's us).

Jesus says, "I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11-14). The relationship we have as a believer with Jesus, is that of sheep to a shepherd. The Lord is our shepherd; we are his flock.

According to John 10:11-18, as His sheep:

* We are a gift to Jesus.

* Christ knows us completely.

* He laid down His life for us.

* Christ owns us and will never abandon us.

* Christ gives us eternal life.

When you reflect on this, this should make your Christmas truly MERRY.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
