THE RECIPE

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

What makes a recipe great? In modern day terms, the objective of any good recipe is continuity, clear enough direction for anyone to recreate the same dish, no matter who or where they are, with identical results.

Do you know what drives me crazy? Well, a lot of things, but one of my pet-pees is following a recipe that is not clear, but close to the top of my list is a recipe that reads, “Take the juice of one lemon…” Can you imagine the difference in flavor between a salad dressing made with a lemon the size of an orange. Have you seen the size of some lemons lately? Some of them are so small, that they look like they have been on a diet and some of them are so large that they look like they have been on steroids. Usually the difference in the size of lemon isn’t quite extreme, but even a portion of an ounce can make a huge difference in the outcome of what you are cooking.

When baking, you must be exact. Some recipes will say grate the lemon without actually giving the amount of the grated lemon. Take the recipe that calls for eggs. Some recipes don’t bother to specify the egg size. This might not seen like a huge deal, but consider a dozen of eggs:

A Dozen of Eggs Weigh

JUMBO 30 ounces

Extra Large 27 ounces

Large 24 ounces

Medium 21 ounces

Small 18 ounces

That’s a 3/4 pound difference in weight between the largest and smallest egg. Use the wrong size when you are baking a cake, your results could be a disaster.

In selecting a recipe, I will usually ask the recipe a couple of questions. Are you a “one and done” recipe? Will I be happy with you and use you again or will I be full of regrets? Will you taste as good as you look?

I have tried some good recipes and some bad recipes. There is one very important recipe that must be tried. Do you know what is the perfect recipe for life? The perfect recipe and ingredient for life, is JESUS. Jesus is a complete serving size, because all you need is one serving size per life. In Jesus there are zero calories and zero fat. There are no carbs, no trans-fat, no sugar, and He has not been “genetically modified”.

Jesus offers 100% of our Daily Nutritional Value. Go ahead and read His label.

% Daily Value % of Daily Value

LOVE 100% GENTLENESS 100%

JOY 100% SELF-CONTROL 100%

PEACE 100% MERCY 100%

PATIENCE 100% GRACE 100%

KINDNESS 100% FORGIVENESS 100%

NUTRITIONAL FACTS: Jesus is 100% of Daily Value (DV) and that tells you how much a nutrient in a serving of food contributed to a daily diet. With Jesus, you will receive your daily nutritional value everyday, without fail.

There are no secret ingredients. There are no ingredients you cannot pronounce. Peter gives us some ingredients for an even better more fulfilling life in Christ. Let me share this recipe with you.

1) Begin with a personal relationship with Jesus.

2) Add goodness and an equal amount of study and showing yourself approve of God.

3) Stir in self-control and the fear of God.

4) Combine the “fruits of the spirit” and a pinch of mutual affection toward one another.

5) Mix thoroughly.

6) No need to bake, and refrigeration isn’t necessary.

Just serve Jesus, on a platter of love. Now this recipe is an “Award Winner," lip smacking, Hallelujah, one of a kind, super fantastic, and some kind of amazing finger licking good. This recipe will work every time. It’s 100% fail proof. What is it called? The Recipe of Life!

NO JESUS, NO LIFE!
