TOOLS HAVE A PURPOSE

Hand tools are basic necessities to carry out even the smallest of household tasks. Every household should own some basic household tool kit. You may have lots of tools for particular projects that you use infrequently, and they can be kept in a garage or workroom. However, having basic tools handy in your living area makes it much more convenient to do simple home repairs.

There are two basic screwdrivers there are a necessity. They are one of the must-have tools in a household kit. They can be used to screw or unscrew nails on any surface, to tighten the hinges, install light switches, or assemble furniture. The screwdriver is made of blades with various widths and lengths suited for special purposes. The blade is made of forged carbon steel that is heat treated for hardness. The handle can be made of high quality plastic to get a good grip.

A hammer is designed to deliver high force on a small area. The tool is made of a long wooden stick, attached to a block of metal. It can be used for driving nails, breaking objects and forging metal. When picking a hammer, choose carefully among the wide variety.

Pliers are common hand tools. They help to hold objects firmly, bend other materials, and remove unwanted elements. It can be used for bending or straightening wires, cutting or slicing wires, removing nails or tiny needles, or to just hold objects firmly at one place.

Scissors are a common tool found in every household. Scissors are a multi-purpose tool. They are useful in every situation, be it for a school project, in the kitchen, a DIY project, or anything you need, including opening packages and boxes.

But every tool gets dull and tools should be cleaned. We are the tools used in God's kingdom. Some of us are knives, screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, scissors, and so forth. In order for us to be at our best performance, once dulled, we must be sharpened. But there's a process for being sharpened.

My son Jay, loves working with wood and he has numerous of building tools for woodworking. He was reminding me about the importance of keeping his tools always in pristine condition. He informed me that a dull-edged blade can actually do more harm than good. When a blade is dull, it takes more force to use and it's harder to control. All knives and bladed tools have a tendency to get dull with use over time. Edges wear off and chips occur. The sharpening process of a knife or tool would is usually done by grinding it against a hard, rough surface, typically a stone, or a flexible surface with hard particles, such as sandpaper. Followed by a process to polish the sharp surface to increase its smoothness and to correct small mechanical deformations without regrinding.

As God's tools, the throes of life will cause us to lose our edge just through the normal process of living. We become rusty and dull, and sometimes that is depicted in our walk with God. Just like a knife or tool needs friction to bring out its full potential, we too need to be buffed and polished by God for our capacity can increase and our character can be expanded in the likeness of Christ.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Iron sharpens iron?" It is a Biblical quote from Proverbs 27:17. The cutting tools for woodworkers, like my son, need sharpening in order to be useful. If we want to be useful to Jesus, we need to be sharpened as well. If the iron of a tool is going to be sharpened, a much harder iron has to be brought to bear it. This "iron sharpening iron" process is going to generate friction, which will result in the reshaping of God's will in our life. God will bring into your life a sort of abrasive action that is going to knock off some of the rough spots in your life. This requires a lot of patience and discomfort.

God wants us to be a useful honorable tool. Being a honorable tool means becoming a useful and effective instrument for God. When we become a dull tool, you must be refurbished. The refurbishing process is not an easy process. As children of God, the sharpening process is painful, but with God it is necessary.

As a servant of Christ, to be a useful tool, it requires growth. As you grow, you are becoming more like Christ. Jesus intends for us to function as an effective tool. So whatever tool you are, tools used properly, when and how they are designed to, as effective tools for Christ. Our effectiveness, our usefulness to Christ, our impact on the world is determined by the depth and purity of our devotion to Jesus.

Whatever tool you are in God's toolbox, each tool is special and has a special purpose. God wants to use each and everyone of us. As God's tools, God can use us for His glory. We must always be at our best when glorifying God, but our best comes with a price.

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1 Peter 4:10).
