WHAT IS GRACE?

Grace is defined as the state of kindness and favor toward someone. Grace is what God does because He is gracious.

Gracious in the form of a verb means to be considerate, to show favor. God is gracious, its one of His attributes. Gracious is not something that God puts on and takes off depending on a situation, because God is always gracious. He doesn't just decide to show us grace, but it is who He is. God is gracious and He demonstrates grace in everything that He does.

Every action toward us, involves God's grace, including His gift of Salvation. "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved" (Ephesians 2:4-5).

God is rich in mercy, has saved us by His grace. Grace and mercy are inseparable twins. We don't know where one ends and the other begins.

It is by grace that we are saved. Our Salvation is not because of anything we have done or capable of doing. It is simply by God's grace, His unmerited favor. Our Salvation is a gift, you can't do anything to earn it. He offers us His Salvation simply as an act of His grace.

"But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace" (Romans 11:6).

Our Salvation is by God's grace. Paul tells us that we are justified through faith. Through faith, we gained assess into the "grace in which we stand."

We exist because of God's grace. He allows the sun to shine because of His grace. He allows the rain to fall because of His grace. He provides for us, because of His grace. His graces keeps us safe. He allows us to come before His presence because of His grace. We experience God's amazing grace, His favor everyday, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, non-stop and every second of the day.

Grace is available to all who have given their lives to God through Jesus Christ. When we are in Christ, God's grace surrounds us, it envelopes us. It is all about God's grace.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9)
